Prostate Awareness Research Foundation (“Par for Life”, “we,” or “us”) respects your individual privacy. We have put this Privacy Policy in place to communicate how we collect, store, and use your personal information. The policy is effective as of March 2010. It applies to information collected through the Par for Life website at http://www.parforlife.org (the “Site”), and covers the following areas:

  • The personally identifiable information collected by Par for Life or by any third party through the Site;
  • The use of this information;
  • Our sharing of this information;
  • The choices that are available to you with respect to collection, use, and distribution of the information;
  • The security procedures in place to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of this information; and

1. Information collection and use

You are not required to submit personally identifiable information, but you may not be able to access all services if you do not submit some information. For example:

2. Use of your credit card information

If you make a donation or place an order, we will use your credit card and other financial account information, and other personal information you provide to us, to process your donation or order. We will not use your credit card or financial account number except to process your donation or order. We may share the information with payment processors, banks or credit card companies for purposes of processing your donation or order.

3. Use of your personal information

If you have opted to receive communications from Par for Life, we will use your personally identifiable information to send you communications from time to time. You may opt out of receiving these communications at any time.

We may need to contact you regarding the status of the Site, updates to this Privacy Policy, or to respond to questions you pose. You may not opt out of these kinds of communications.

4. Disclosure of your personal information

We may share your profile with third parties, such as Google, who assist us in processing and analyzing aggregate information and optimizing our Site.

We may share your information with a third-party service provider that handles the processing and distribution of our newsletters and other communications.

We may share your personal and account information with payment processors, banks or credit card companies for purposes of processing your donation or order.

5. Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies store information about your use of a web site or service, and are typically used to make services more convenient and personalized. We may use anonymous cookies called “session cookies” to measure traffic patterns to areas of our Site. Session cookies are created each time you visit our Site. They do not remain on your computer after you leave the Site.

6. Use of aggregate information

We may store information that we collect through log files to create a profile of our users. Log files record internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the Site, track your movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Log file data is not linked to personally identifiable information. A profile may be stored detailing how individual customers use the Site. It is used solely for internal purposes, to help us improve the experience of users of the Site.

7. Par for Life transitions

If Par for Life goes through a transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another entity, or sale of a portion of its assets, personally identifiable information of users collected through this Site may be part of the assets transferred. The information transferred or shared will remain subject to the promises made in this Privacy Policy, unless you are notified of new terms.

This Site contains links to other web sites. Par for Life is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these other web sites. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our Site and to read the privacy statements of each web site that collects personally identifiable information. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by our Site.

9. Security

Par for Life takes commercially reasonable precautions to protect any personally identifiable information collected through this Site. However, given the nature of the Internet and the fact that network security measures are not infallible, we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

10. Correcting, updating, deleting and deactivating personal information

You may contact us at http://parforlife.org/contact to correct, update, or delete and deactivate our record of your personally identifiable information.

11. Notification of changes

If we decide to change this Privacy Policy, we will post the changes here. If we propose to use your personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify you by email and by posting a notice on this Site. However, you are responsible for ensuring we have a current working email address for you in order to receive these updates. If the email address you have given us is incorrect or no longer operable, we will have no further obligation to notify you apart from posting the notice on our Site.
