Get to know your doctor

Health care and more specifically cancer screening and treatment can be overwhelming and confusing to most individuals. This was not made any easier recently when the American Cancer Society came out stating that prostate tests save few lives. This article Prostate cancer screening: Should you get a PSA test?” gives some good insight into the pros and cons of testing.

The number one thing that I took away from reading several articles on both sides of the issue is that men should be encouraged to have a strong relationship with their doctor. By discussing their individual health, family history and risk factors open and honestly men are more likely to come to an educated decision with regard to what is right for them.
